Spreading joy and smiles to sick children, with pillowcases and encouraging notes

I have a passion for sewing and love bringing smiles to people's faces. Over the past few years, my older sisters have both spent time in the hospital.  They enjoyed our visits and  appreciated when we brought them little gifts.

As I was sewing, I came up with an idea of creating pillowcases for kids in the hospital.  "Wouldn't it be great if we could help the kids feel just a bit more at home?"

Cases of Love was created to help spread joy to those who are going through hard times.  Please join us as we put smiles on children's faces.

Our goal was to deliver 250 pillowcases and raise $5,000.  On February 14, 2018 we accomplished these goals!!!!  How appropriate, Cases of Love reached it's goal on the day of love.

Today, I'm 11 years old and getting ready to finish 5th grade.  I am thrilled that we've raised $5,732 and donated 286 pillowcases.

Thank you everyone!!!

With your donation of $20, a pillowcase will be specially created for a child in the hospital

Along with the pillowcase, you can write an encouraging message to the child

Your pillowcase + message will be delivered and the donation will be made to the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation

On Faith: Small Student Makes a Big Difference

“I feel like God is encouraging me,” Keira said. “I pray for the kids in the hospital that they will feel hope, love, and not be afraid. Proverbs 3:24 reminds me of this when it says, ‘When you lie down you will not be afraid, when you lie down your dreams will be sweet.’”

Meet Keira Raack, a 9 year-old fourth grader with a big heart and a giving spirit. Keira started a project called “Cases of Love” with one goal in mind – to spread joy and smiles to sick children in the hospital. Her inspiration for this project came through her love for sewing and her older sisters both having spent time in the hospital. Keira is a true example of the Power of One. The Power of One – meaning never underestimate the power of what you, one person, can do.

Difference-Maker Student Grant Recipients Announced!

Our first “Difference Maker” grant awardees were revealed at chapel – congratulations Keira Raack (4th grade) and Sydney Shelton and Natalie Ferdi (middle school)!  These young ladies are following in the footsteps of guest speakers Jake Harriman of Nuru International and Jessie Simonson of 31 Bits Jewelry, who challenged our entire student body to consider how they can become “Difference Makers” for the Kingdom.

Keira’s vision is to launch “Cases of Love” by sewing pillowcases for children in the hospital, and then inviting individuals to purchase pillowcases and sign an attached card, with donations being given to Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.  She hopes to involve some fellow sewers and innovators to move this vision forward!
